I got to do this precious baby girl’s newborn session back in February. (How is it June already!?!?) I always tell myself that this time I’m not going to fall behind so much with sharing the blog post, and then next thing you know… it is three months later! I really need to figure out how to be in two places at once guys! Also…this year it hasn’t been that easy to sit down and concentrate on writing either, so we’ll just leave it at that. 🙂
A few years ago I decided not to do newborn sessions at all anymore. I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t keep up with all the latest and greatest props and trends and it was becoming difficult to keep up with everyone’s Pinterest ideas. (People pleaser anyone?) I didn’t do any newborn sessions for about a year, and I would tell anyone who asked that I was done with that, but when I had the opportunity to photograph another one of my nieces and my nephew, I realized I was still loving it as much as ever! What I hadn’t loved was trying to keep up with all the Pinterest ideas that were presented. (Not that there’s anything wrong with sharing your vision by the way.)
I figured out what I loved most and went with that. I like simple, baby-centered newborn photos with minimal props, just different wraps or in baby’s home without anything added. I give the option to choose whether parents want more traditionally posed or lifestyle sessions, and guys, now I am back to LOVING newborn sessions SO much!!Â
Now, to this baby girl’s newborn session! It was perfect! It was a dream!! The best part of the session was that we got to incorporate a blanket that her mommy used and it was made by her great grandma. How amazing is that!?!?!Â
I’m used to the baby waking up during the session, or letting me know when they’re done. This little lady kept sleeping and therefore made me lose track of time! She is so loved, and seriously…she won the parents lottery! Her parents are just the kindest people you’ll be around.
Rebecka and David, congratulations on this new chapter in your life. May God continue to bless you as you navigate the waters of parenting. Thank you so much for the honor of capturing this precious memory for you!
